David Haye’s journey to becoming jetAVIVA’s go-to expert on the Citation M2 is one rooted in genuine passion and deep experience. With more than eight years in jet sales, David has racked up an impressive track record: around 70 transactions totaling approximately $662 million. While the bulk of his experience is in Citations, he’s also successfully closed deals involving Falcons, Gulfstreams, and Challengers. But it’s clear where his heart lies: “I’ve always gravitated back to Citations,” he says.

David’s connection to the M2 goes beyond just transactions—he was there from the beginning. As Citation Sales Director, he helped introduce the aircraft to the world, sold some of the earliest M2s, and even flew the experimental aircraft on a demo tour.

“When I was the Citation Sales Director for Cessna, I really enjoyed working with the owner/operators that typically buy the M2s,” David shares. “With jetAVIVA being built on owner-flown light jets, it was a perfect fit.”

Among the many stories David has been a part of, one stands out. A client was upgrading from a Citation Mustang to an M2—an ideal step up.

“The client already had the 525 type rating, so he hired an instructor to help him transition to the Garmin 3000. They picked up the aircraft in Phoenix and spent the next few days flying around the Pacific Northwest in post-holiday weather. The airplane performed flawlessly,” David recalls. “He told us how quickly he felt at home in the cockpit.”

David’s time working closely with owner-operators has given him a clear view of the evolving market.

“Post-Covid, demand has remained strong,” he notes. “We typically see about 60 pre-owned M2 transactions a year and around 23 new aircraft deliveries annually. The M2 continues to be a top choice for pilots stepping up from turboprops or piston-engine aircraft.”

So, what keeps customers coming back to the Citation M2? David points to a mix of reliability, simplicity, and smart design. The M2 has an impressive safety record, low operating costs, and is easy to fly single pilot. It’s the same type rating as the CJ3+, so moving up the ladder is simple. The Garmin G3000 avionics are intuitive, and Textron’s service network is one of the best in the business.

David is optimistic about what lies ahead for the M2.

“I think we’ll continue to see steady activity—about 60 pre-owned sales a year. The newer Gen2 and Gen3 models are introducing great upgrades, like autothrottles and autoland, which will attract new buyers and encourage current owners to upgrade.”
